Always leave gates how you find them, and mind private property signs.
Don’t go out alone.
Always tell someone where you are going and when you plan to return.
Follow Leave No Trace principals.
Never drink water directly from a stream, lake or pond. Always boil or filter water before drinking.
Be prepared for potential conditions, and always bring extra supplies.
Cell phones do not work in many areas of Nevada, keep this in mind.
GPS units are not a substitute for a map and compass. Batteries run out and satellite signals don’t always work, be prepared for that.
Stay alert and always be cautious of your surroundings, you are not in a controlled environment. Be aware of wildlife, poisonous plants, rock fall, abandoned mines, avalanche….you get the idea.
Walk through mud or puddles on the trail, going around them will just worsen the impact.
Never cut switchbacks.
Don’t use wet or muddy trails, a tire rut can ruin a trail.
Be mindful of other users.
